JOIN US FOR BLANKET EXPRESS
Friday, December 13, 2008

With an Ypsilanti police escort, The Blanket Express will leave the parking lot at Lake Shore Apartments off Grove Road, at 11:00 a.m., on December 13, 2008, to deliver blankets to Brown Chapel where they will be distributed to those families and individuals in need.

Each year, hundreds of blankets are collected at various places. Among the collectors are Brenda McKinney, Superior Township Treasurer, and Linda French of The Sidetrack who each collect a wagon full of great blankets for the cause.

New blankets may be dropped off anytime, during the year, up to the time the procession leaves the parking lot.

Every year, blankets are donated by the many friends of The Blanket Express to help bring comfort to those in need during the cold winter months. Those of us who have so much, often forget that a warm blanket can mean the difference between sickness and health, or even life and death to some families.

We want to thank all of those who donated blankets and their time to support this effort. We are looking forward to seeing you on December 13, 2008!
Samantha

During the year, we accept donations of new, packaged blankets. Also, cash donations are collected (100% of all money given will be used to purchase additional blankets). All donations can be dropped off at the Crime Prevention Security offices located at:

2124 Lakeview Drive Suite 189
Ypsilanti, Michigan

In this day and age, it's hard to believe that there are some who have such a basic need. That's the goal behind the event--to meet a need of people who live very simply, often in make-shift shelters, or even outdoors with no shelter at all. To, "Provide a warm blanket, for the cold night."

Wouldn't it feel great to know that you helped someone in your community: You have that opportunity. Please consider helping us by donating some new, packaged blankets, or even by making a financial contribution to the effort?
